How It Works

An Interactive and Collaborative Process

Although some workshops may have a targeted focus to meet the needs of the community, we approach every collaboration with a set variety of interactions and situational learning. Here are a few.

  • The Vocab Lesson

    Using a rudimentary drawing activity to reflect back on participants' relationships to their own identities, the basics of sex, gender, identity, and expression are broken down and explored.

  • The Gallery Walk

    A brief slideshow of members of the TGNC community, including celebrities and other volunteers. The purpose is to show the range of expression in the TGNC community and to eliminate stereotypes/expectations.

  • The Role Play

    Built around the specific needs of the client, a scenario will be introduced with the facilitators in role. Participants will have the opportunity to offer solutions out of role, as well as practice difficult conversations/ confrontations in role as an ally. Note: Participation in "performing" is always completely voluntary, and observing is just as valuable.

  • Consulting

    If individualized consulting is more urgent than full-staff trainings, meetings are available to discuss... Company-wide policies to foster a safer working environment Best practices for theatre/performance environments including casting, costuming, green room/changing spaces How to best support young people in your life (your own children, students, etc) who may be on the TGNC spectrum Basic gender theory and practice education (what is covered in the first half of the workshop, in depth)
